The Director of Grounds is responsible for overseeing all aspects of golf course maintenance, landscaping, and grounds operations. This position reports directly to the General Manager and works closely with ownership to execute the club's agronomic vision and capital improvement plan.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

• Implementation of a comprehensive agronomic plan for all maintained turf areas

• Manage annual maintenance and capital budgets

• Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing grounds maintenance team

• Oversee irrigation system management and water conservation efforts

• Coordinate with contractors on capital improvement projects

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations

• Maintain equipment fleet and manage preventative maintenance programs

• Develop and manage chemical application programs

• Prepare golf course for daily play and special events

• Communicate regularly with membership regarding course conditions

• Collaborate with Golf Professional on course setup and playability

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Science, Agronomy, or related field preferred

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent

• Strong knowledge of warm season turfgrass management (Bermuda, Paspalum)

• Experience managing capital improvement projects and renovation programs

• Proven leadership and team-building skills

• Proficiency with irrigation systems and water management

• Excellent organizational and communication skills. Compensation & Benefits
