About The Lighthouse
Established in 1968, The Lighthouse is a semi-private, 18 hole golf course located in the rolling hils of Kingsland, Texas, the headwaters of Lake LBJ. The course was renovated in 2006 by Jerry Slack and Leon Howard. Featuring smooth rolling Tifeagle greens and 419 Bermuda fairways, tees, and rough.
The Lighthouse features four sets of tees from 6558 yards from the championship tees to 4922 yards from the forward tees. Making it playable and enjoyable for the average golfer while a true test for the more accomplished players.
The Practice facility has a double-ended 300 yard driving range, 10,000 square foot putting green and a practice facility for chipping and bunker practice on the south end of the driving range.
Position Summary:
The Golf Course Superintendent plays a critical role ing the golf course operations. The Superintendent is responsible for all agonomic mamagement and daily maintenance of the 18-hole golf course, clubhouse grounds, and common areas as directed by the management. This position will coordinate daily with the General Manager and Golf Shop to provide an exceptional golf experience everyday.
The Supeintendent's areas of supervision include all daily crew activities, the maintenance budget, the planning of daily and ongoing improvements of the golf course, the hiring and training of the maintenance staff. The qualified candidate will be a team builder and continually advance the well being of The Lighthouse and the entire team. The candidate must possess a positive attitude as welll as a strong work ethic, be organized, attentive to details, and self motivated.
Key Responsibilites:
Oversee the crews and maintenance of the turf and playing conditions.
Recruit and supervise the maintenance crews.
Be proactive in all operations of The Lighthouse course maintenance.
Schedule all regular maintenance practices and preplan for maintenance issues that might disrupt the golfers.
Manage water usage tracking plan and irrigation meintenance along with capital improvement projects.
Provide detailed annual budgets.
Provide technical, operational and safety requirements for the employees to ensure safe working within OSHA club safety practice, state and federal guidelines for safe safe working conditions. Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the golf course.
Educational Requirements:
2-4 years Turf management/Horticulture with degree preferred. Have or will be able to obtain a Texas pesticide and spray license.
Annaul base salary $65,000+ DOE
